UPMINSTER MATHS TUITION
Make the Grade….
Hornchurch Maths Tuition
Upminster Maths provide first class, individual, high quality, personalised maths tuition and advice based on a great many years experience in education.
Upminster Maths is fully equipped with all resources, up to date revision guides, books and equipment, with dedicated study area. However, sessions can take place at the client’s home, and lesson duration is determined by the student’s needs. Generally, for younger children an hour is suitable, increasing to two hours prior to GCSE examination time.
Tuition is available throughout the year, including the school holidays, to ensure continuity of learning. Tuition is available outside normal hours to allow for students other commitments and activities, which is why we are available from 7.00 am to 11.00 pm, 7 days a week. Tuition is available at all academic levels, including:
- KS3
- KS4
- Common Entrance
- Scholarship Papers
- GCSE
- Home Education
Upminster Maths complete commitment to teaching has helped change the lives of a great many students – from young children through to university students as well as adults returning to education. Teachers who wish to improve their numeracy and increase their maths grade, in order to enhance their CVs and job prospects, have also benefitted from tuition. We can arrange for adults to take the GCSE exam as a private candidate.
Teaching Maths successfully and making a difference is our ethos. We enjoy an excellent reputation across the county, with a proven record of raising maths exam results by usually two grades, due to our complete commitment to your child’s success. These results range from A* with 100% score and, equally important, more personalised successes for individual students. We aim to fill knowledge gaps, deal with queries and make sure every single student feels comfortable and confident.
We provide a learning environment that is substantially different to school. We aim to bring different areas together, retain knowledge and translate that knowledge into exam results. The ability to quickly improve levels of achievement in maths invariably increases cross curricular confidence and motivation, thereby increasing results in other subjects.
Some students come for weekly tutorials to help them with their studies; some come for crash revision courses in the run up to their exams; some follow full courses with us instead of attending a conventional school. We have one/two/three day consolidation courses during Easter and May half term, as well as holiday and study leave tuition.
We are here to help – whatever the need. Families may need someone to maintain schoolwork during a difficult period – a school exclusion or a family break-up. Parents may request a period of home schooling to assist in catching up or because a school place is not available. Sue Hodgkin, the proprietor, has worked as a home school inspector in the Borough of Havering.
Private tuition is often the key to a student’s educational success. Experience has shown that personal tuition gives a student a greater understanding of subject matter that they may have failed to grasp in a conventional classroom environment. This understanding can mean the difference between success and failure. It can also help students enjoy subjects that previously were inaccessible.
Private tuition is beneficial for many reasons, including:
- if students are falling behind, it enables them to catch up;
- it can help them during stressful periods such as the run up to exams;
- exceptional monitoring, feedback and attention to detail; and
- the opportunity for the student to reach their full potential;
The individually tailored focus of private tuition means that students tend to make faster progress than they do at school, including
- helping to increase confidence and in turn decrease exam nerves;
- ensuring the student has a thorough knowledge and understanding of the syllabus;
- going through past-papers. This is essential and doing so with a tutor who not only knows the subject matter but all the tricks of the trade gives a student a real advantage; and
- having someone to whom you can ask those questions that you have not perhaps had the time, opportunity or confidence to do so at school.
Many subjects at ‘A’ level require a ‘B’ grade or higher. When subjects are over-subscribed then the higher grade student takes priority. College’s require a minimum ‘C’ grade maths for any course, and if the student does not have this, then they would have to retake the subject until a ‘C’ grade is achieved.
